Discover Amritsar’s Culinary Delights with Amritsar Travel Story

India’s rich and diverse cuisine, brimming with vibrant tastes, flavors, and spices, is a hallmark of its cultural heritage. Embracing the ancient Indian philosophy of 'Atithi Devo Bhava,' every Indian welcomes guests with open arms, treating them to the finest culinary experiences. In Amritsar, the Guru di Nagri or Guru’s city, you can immerse yourself in the local culture, walk alongside its residents, and savor its renowned cuisine.

Our food walk begins at Kulwant Kulchian Wala, known for its delectable Kulchas. While Amritsar boasts several popular Kulcha spots like Kulcha Land and Ashoki Kulchian Wala, Kulwant’s Kulchas are a favorite among locals. Kulwant Singh, who started this eatery near the Golden Temple, has become a beloved figure in the city. His legacy continues with two thriving locations.

Next, we head to Katra Ahluwalia to enjoy the sweet, crispy Jalabies from Gurdass Ram Jalibian Wala. Established before the partition, this family-run shop now serves delicious Jalabies and Pinnies made in desi ghee (clarified butter) and soaked in rich sugar syrup.

Our journey continues to Narayan Poorian Wala, situated in the Chowk of Baba Bohar at the end of the Utensil Market. A popular breakfast choice among Amritsaris, Poori, and Chholey is complemented perfectly by the renowned ‘Guru da Halwa’ from this eatery.

Strolling towards Telephone Exchange, we pass the historic Thakur Dwara Dariana Mull, a remarkable example of 18th-century architecture. At Telephone Exchange, we’ll explore a variety of Amritsari street foods, including Lassi, Chaamp, Cheese Bhurji, and Gulaab Jamun.

Our food adventure concludes with a hearty lunch at Kesar Da Dhaba, one of Amritsar’s oldest and most famous eateries. Renowned for its Daal Makhni, Malai Kofta, and Partha, Kesar Da Dhaba offers a delicious end to our culinary journey.
